Due to advanced decomposition, mummified skin was extremely dark/discolored, which completely obscured any potential view of tattoo identifiers. However, extensive restorative efforts successfully transformed portions of decomposed skin to near natural pigmentation thus making visible multiple distinct, discernible tattoos. Each tattoo is depicted in the images section and generally described here and with the image.

Medical

The body is that of a partially skeletonized, adult, white male in an advanced state of desiccation/decomposition. The measured length of the remains is 69" and the scale weight is 40 pounds. Light brown hair with visible rare gray strands is present and adherent to the calvarium measuring up to 4" in length. Slight thinning on the crown is noted. The calvarium is intact. The skeletal structures of the face are visible and there is no evidence of periorbital, nasal, maxillary or mandibular fractures. Teeth are present in the upper and lower jaw with restorations. This area is specifically examined and separately charted. Multiple teeth appear lost in the postmortem period. Encircling the neck is a length of 1/4" close line type rope with massive and marked constriction of the neck structures beneath the angle of the jaw consistent with ligature placement. The chest cage is intact as is the abdomen except for rate defects associated with insect activity. Although desiccated the genitalia is recognizable as that of an adult male. The pelvic bones are exposed. The lower extremities reveal extensive drying/mummification/decomposition but no evidence of skeletal or soft tissue trauma. The upper extremities appear symmetric and intact in a similar state of desiccation/decomposition and mummification. The posterior aspect of the body reveals no evidence of penetrating, perforating or blunt force injuries. There is an odor of decomposition about the body.
